And I'll Scratch Yours - Peter Gabriel
I am reviewing the tribute album And I'll Scratch Yours by various artists doing Peter Gabriel songs which is very good. The idea behind the album is they are some of Peter's favourite artists and obviously that's where the title comes from. The phrase You Scratch My Back And I'll Scratch Yours being shortened. Some of the artists include Elbow, Arcade Fire, Lou Reed & David Bowie. There are 2 versions of the classic song Don't Give Up, as well as versions of Biko & Games Without Frontiers. A lot of the tracks appear to be album tracks but are still quite good. Peter used to be in the rock group Genesis in what many regard as its heyday but after an argument left the group. Phil Collins who also had a successful pop career as a solo artist was also in the group. Games Without Frontiers is probably my favourite song by Gabriel but his most successful song was probably Sledgehammer which sadly is missing from this album. He was well known for having quite an experimental type of sound and wasn't afraid to take risks musically. I did enjoy listening to this album.
