The Power Of Love - Sam Bailey

I am reviewing the album The Power Of Love by Sam Bailey which is a very good album. Sam won the X Factor last year and was the first winner to have the Christmas number one in Britain in several years. The single was a cover of Skyscraper originally done by Demi Lovato. This album was the fastest selling album of the year in Britain & beat Pharrell's new album to number one. She is due to release another single from the album soon. My favourite track on the album is the title track which is beautifully done and was originally a big hit for Jennifer Rush & later Celine Dion. Prior to going on the X Factor Sam was a prison officer at HMP Gartree and the newspapers nicknamed her Screwbo. In the prisons they call prison officers screws and also a previous contestant from a talent show Susan Boyle had been nicknamed Subo so it was an amalgamation of this. Also both contestants had similar voices being similar to operatic voices. Sam did work on a cruise liner as a singer for several years. She is 36 and married with 3 children. She did support Beyonce at Birmingham as part of Beyonce's tour. Apparently in the final vote on the X Factor she scored over 70% of the telephone vote. I think with the success of One Direction & Little Mix in America she has to be going to be successful outside Britain. I did look at the Wikipedia article which I recommend.
