Business Gamification

The book I read to research this post was Business Gamification For Dummies by Kris Duggan et al which is a very good book which I read on

This book is a great introduction to a complex subject but if you decided to market your business in this way I would suggest doing some additional reading and employing some specialists to implement. The term business gamification is a relatively new one and refers quite literally to making you employees jobs and the process of people buying from you into a kind of game with rewards. On a simple level you can have an employee of the month award or a buy 5 of product x and get one free promotion. A lot of it is about interacting with people on social media and driving people to your website. A lot of companies will have a kind of game on their website which can be something like a one armed bandit with rotating symbols like recycled bottles if you have a waste recycling company. It can also be things like featuring a customer or employee on your website or having certain levels on your site that are only open to people with a certain achievement like they have achieved x sales or purchased x of a product or even sent your company a like on facebook. This can also be integrated with a location based marketing site like foursquare where people can be encouraged to ie visit your restaurant with their friends. There are gamification specialists like badgeville or you can try an open source solution like zurmo or open badges.
