Social Media Marketing

The book I read to research this post was Profitable Social Media Marketing by Tim Kitchen et al which is a very good book and which I bought from kindle. This book is about marketing your business on social media networks and also tells you quite a bit about how their company Exposure Ninja can do this but is good in its own right. The book contains sections on the main networks Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin & Google+ as well as a section on blogging. I always use hosted blogs which are mostly free but a business needs a self hosted platform because you can configure it more and if you use one like Wordpress there are tons of plug ins that are mostly free. Also you must watch what people are saying about your business on social media sites and give any derogatory comments a polite answer. An example is someone accused starbucks of not paying tax to which they left a comment saying they paid £8.6 million in the last year. I know quite a lot about social media and there isn't that much in this book that is new to me but it's well written and quite interesting. They maybe could have done with a section on pinterest. Also I would like to read a guide about somethiing like Rebel Mouse or Foursquare as it seems everyone who writes one of these books writes about either Facebook or Twitter. I did quite enjoy this book though.
