Social Media Marketing

The book I read to research this post was Social Media Marketing Extreme by Ryan William which is a very good book which I downloaded from kindle. This book looks at using some of the biggest social media which are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ & Pinterest. It's a decent length so it looks at the different sites in a reasonable amount of detail and there is interesting information. I think this book would apply to marketing yourself or personal branding as much as marketing a small business. Some interesting information in the book is like if you get a Twitter account and want lots of followers consider parodying a celebrity. The author parodied Ryan Gosling with @PaulRyanGosling and put out some humorous tweets about the actor and got thousands of followers in a short space of time. He also suggests a site called http://twiends.com for finding out if someone is on Twitter as it is a good twitter directory. Searches can be done on the basis of locality, business name or person's name. If you need a landing page template for your website as obviously you will want to attract people there to buy stuff he suggests http://www.semantclp.com who will typically charge $5. A landing page is a template for a website that is optimized according to what people look at in the first few seconds of arriving at a website and believe me this can improve your sales a lot. Something else he looks at is if you sell as an affiliate on Pinterest they aren't very keen on that and were changing the links to stop them from getting a commision although that does seem to have settled down more recently. I enjoyed reading this book and the information is very relevant to anyone using social media.
